Southend Halloween Parade returns this October

The Southend Halloween parade will return to Southend seafront on Saturday 28 October 2023.

Now in its third year, the fantastic free event will see local and national acts adorning their best ghostly attire to create a frightfully fun family evening.

The parade is being organised by Southend-on-Sea City Council in association with the Southend Tourism Partnership, and the local community are being encouraged to get involved in this year’s parade.

Entry is free but community acts are required to be in costume and illuminated. Participants will also be encouraged to interact with the crowd and help create a carnival atmosphere. The application form and terms and conditions can be found on the Southend Halloween Parade website. Jacqui Dallimore, chair of Southend Tourism Partnership, said: “The Partnership are delighted about the return of the Halloween Parade. Last year’s event was even more popular than our first parade, bringing over 40,000 visitors to the seafront.

“Come and join the fun and flaunt your creative side with your scary illuminated creations. Whether it’s your scout group, dance school or just you and your friends, we want to exhibit Southend’s brilliant community spirit.”

Cllr Carole Mulroney, cabinet member for environment, culture and tourism, said: “The Southend Halloween Parade is a fantastic event on the Southend City calendar and gets bigger and better each year. The involvement from local businesses and community groups will only strengthen our parade and showcase Southend’s creative side.

“We are aiming to attract visitors from far and wide, so arrive early and enjoy Southend’s great offer on the seafront, our parks and gardens, our city centre and our world famous ‘Pier of the Year 2023’, before experiencing an amazing Halloween Parade in the evening.”

Full details about the Halloween Parade, including how to apply, can be found on the Southend Halloween Parade website.
